Interactive calendar of pedestrian danger

We did a version of this story (pedestrian accidents peak in Toronto in late November for reasons that mostly have to do with changes in sunlight) last year, but on an interactive graphic level it was disappointing (I couldn’t find a tool that would make me an interactive timeline for a *generic* year, a surprisingly obscure application given how many times we want to use it.) I ended up screenshotting a Google line chart and doing a lot of things to it in Photoshop.

In the meantime, we figured out how to make an interactive calendar in Tableau, which made it very tempting to come back to the story. Here’s how the graphic looks (click on the link to read the story):
